Advocacy Research on Lived Experience of Noncommunicable Diseases and Mental Health Conditions

OTWB Admin

We value your lived experience.

We want to learn from you.

We believe that voices like yours should be at the heart of decisions that impact your life and the lives of people you care about. WHO wants to learn from people living with noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) and mental health conditions around the world.

Our research on meaningful engagement is guided by people like you with lived experience. We would like to invite you to join an exciting research opportunity so that we can learn from you and better understand what life with a lived condition is really like.

Your ideas, experiences and expertise will support us in building the evidence base to inform a WHO framework that will support WHO and WHO Member States in meaningfully engaging people living with NCDs and mental health conditions in shaping and informing NCD policies and services.

For this opportunity, WHO is looking for:

  • People with lived experience of NCDs (including cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, chronic respiratory diseases, cancer) and mental health conditions (and psychosocial disabilities).

  • People with lived experience of NCDs and mental health conditions representing particularly marginalized communities or underrepresented experiences and health conditions.

  • Carers and/or family members of people with lived experience of NCDs and mental health conditions (including partners, close friends, family members and community support members).

Your Contributions

As your time is valuable, we have provided options for you to contribute anywhere from 1-3 hours through virtual small focus groups and/or larger workshops, facilitated in a highly supportive environment. Each activity and engagement is unique, does not require previous engagement or participation, and will build upon the discussions and key themes discussed.

We will provide several time zone options to support attendance from across the six WHO regions. Discussions will be mostly in small groups to allow time for us to hear from you. If you have accessibility needs, we will aim to find the easiest way for you to take part.

Provisional dates for the focus groups and/or workshops are 20 October, 21 October, 23 October, 11 November and either 1-4 December. Please note that you can express interest in one or all of the activities and you can indicate your preferences in the interest form. In recognition of your time and insights, and with your permission, we would like to add your name to the WHO Framework Recognition Wall. How To Get Involved

We would be delighted to learn from you. If you would like to participate, please CLICK HERE.

Expressions of interest will be reviewed on an ongoing basis. If you have any questions then please contact Jack Fisher, Technical Officer, GCM/NCD by email at fisherj@who.int.
